Having walked through Chinatown many times, I can't believe I've never stopped at the Emperor's Garden Cake and Bakery Store. The main store offers a variety of baked goods ranging from egg tarts to cocktail buns that remind you of Hong Kong. Cake lovers will also fall in love with this place with the wide selection at a low price.

The real star of the bakery is the freshly made custard cream puff. These are sold at 30cents each or $1 for 4 puffs. My friend and I visited the store at around 1pm and there was a queue at the hole-in-the-wall outlet selling these goodies next to the main bakery. As you wait for your order, you can watch the machine that injects hot custard into the fluffy dough balls.

When it's finally your turn, you will receive these adorable piping hot squishy puffs in a small paper bag. With winter coming, these treats are the best comfort food. You will get addicted to these bite size morsels quickly, so be careful if you're watching your waistline!
