Emotional Freedom Technique (otherwise known as EFT) is derived from kinesiology, which is a healing technique for many issues, from anxiety to performance issues. Amy Basha is a Sydney based certified EFT practitioner who has conducted EFT treatments with individuals from all walks of life since 2006. Amy completed her Level 2 certification in AAMET in 2010.

Amy conducts her sessions face-to-face in Balmain, otherwise the treatment is just as accessible via Skype and phone communication. I was invited to gain some much needed healing with Amy in the area of relationships over one session. When you call Amy to arrange an appointment, Amy will likely ask you to focus on a specific issue that you would like to resolve. For me, I know this is personal, however my last partner passed away on my birthday two-years ago, and as a result, I have not been able to manifest my soulmate since. It would also be great to celebrate birthdays once more too, that would help.

Even in just a brief phone call, Amy picked the right words for how I was feeling. From my first observation, Amy is rather intuitive, and this showed up in the EFT treatment I was receiving. Of course, the actual session delves into this deeper through a few tapping movements in sync with Amy's. You do not need to spill out your life history. Amy is able to pick up on your feelings and your energy at any given moment. Amy also stresses before the treatment commences that everything will be confidential, and if you need to cry, the tissue are right there. The care factor and professionalism is at an all time high.

Amy also used a lavender diffuser during the EFT session

Amy mentioned that there might be times that I might be compelled to drink some water as minor dehydration may occur throughout the treatment. The water was infused with fresh mint - who would say no to such purity. In terms of negative energy, it is out with the old, in with the new. I was also asked if I wanted to work with the angels, and upon acceptance of this, Amy immediately brought them into the session.

Within only a couple of minutes, Amy got that I am quite lonely outside of the successes of my writing work, and I rarely get a chance to rest and socialise. It does not help to be working in one of the world's most loneliest professions either. Amy then asked me to repeat a few words in acknowledging that I am lonely, and then the wording (in conjunction with the gentle tapping) is positively reframed towards what the client is wanting - in my case for my soulmate to manifest. I was also asked to rate my loneliness on a scale one of ten, where ten means you're extremely lonely. It started at an eight and quickly went down to a six. The right word was identified for how I was feeling about love based relationships.

The use of colours came into the treatment. I was asked how I was feeling as my loneliness was being treated. Some chunky blobs were in my heart and stomach. As the clearing of my relationship issue was taking place, heavy blobs started to emerge and then leave. Amy knew exactly what to ask me and how to ask me. Clever and intuitive. Amy is grounded, and has experience in other new age concepts that transfer into being an effective EFT practitioner. "I can feel a lot of dense negative energy. You have a lot of anxiety left from your previous partner." Amy then asked me if I can forgive him. Yes, he is forgiven. The concept that everyone does the very best that they can with the resources they have available really hit home at this point of the treatment. I got that my partner was as loving as he could be despite being ill/unwell at the time.

Somehow Amy asked me about my father. She learnt that my mother died at a young age, and my father left not long after. I got that it was my father that developed the trait of entrepreneurialism in me.

During the session I began to forgive my father for leaving me soon after my mother passed away at the age of 13. Amy also suggested I write a letter to my father expressing my gratitude for giving me the gift of life. Seeing things from that perspective, my relationship issues started to dissolve.

This left some space for some more healing. The darkness quickly turned into light, although I did feel quite tired afterwards, and almost downed my glass of mint water completely. Thankfully, the session was not over yet. Amy then asks you to close your eyes, and begins a chakra cleansing meditation. Amy asked me "what do you see?" I said "a rainbow." Way better than a dense green blob stuck in the stomach area. I loved the misty love spray that Amy sprayed over me to clear that old, stagnant energy around love.

Amy then gave me some positive affirmations to implant into my unconscious mind to attract my soulmate, and also shared how she attracted her partner into her life. "Be careful what you wish for, as you might just get it." Amy also mentioned that a Buddhist chanting group might be a good idea, especially as chanting is a form of meditation where "you let it all out."

The mint water that was a godsend during the session

With that in mind (like all great things) the session came to an end. Despite all my best intentions to attract a loving man into my life after allowing some time to heal from the death of my last partner - as a result of this EFT session, I now have more clarity and optimism about manifesting my soulmate despite being on track and doing those things to attract him into my life. Amy helped me clear that emotional blockage called "anxiety" in order to move on and shine into the light. A few handouts were given to further apply basic EFT on your own post-session. The exercises are simple and straightforward. They're also verbally explained to you. However in saying this, depending on your issue, a few EFT sessions with Amy are advised.

Amy mentions that her clients feel a "tingling" sensation, even when the EFT session is done over the phone. I get that. The face-to-face session was rather powerful. There is a lot of positive, healing energy thrown at you. Have faith that your unconscious mind is absorbing this information like a sponge. Amy also advises that no alcohol should be consumed over the next 48 hours. Amy comments that drinking alcohol when major energy shifts have happened to a person, and after any form of energy work, can be rather counterproductive at times. It is recommended that one drinks plenty of water and cravings for unfavourable foods will naturally subside after just one EFT session with Amy. She is brilliant and I highly recommend her to clear any issue you might be facing.

Your Comment
$100 an hour for EFT seems a bit expensive (you can look up the basic technique own the web). EFT does have its place, but I personally think its worth considering if something other than a 'quick fix' may be needed..sometimes you might need to explore more of yourself with a counsellor.
