My favourite brew is sadly a barista's nightmare. I sometimes avoid eye contact when placing my order to escape the look of derision. What can I say, my body no longer tolerates six cups of the good stuff so I am forced into decaf and soy.

Thankfully the good folk at Emmanuel's are more than happy to prepare my order and it is hot and smooth every time. I am a creature of habit and thought I was comfortable with my usual order of fruit toast with its juicy chunks of fruit and nuts throughout. I was, however, happily mistaken when I tasted the lightly spiced banana bread. I had it toasted, of course, and the butter melted through the slightly crispy toast into its already moist centre. Delish.

Although their food menu is small, there is a sufficient range of muffins and delicious light meals on offer to satisfy your morning or afternoon tea craving or to settle in for lunch.

I love how their bright yellow coffee machine brings a little sunshine inside while I wait for my coffee and pick from their funky painted tables and hessian padded chairs where I will be sitting. Emmanuel Coffee are relative newcomers to the food and beverage offerings at Forest Lake Village Shopping Centre but that hasn't stopped them from offering some of the finest coffee and cake in the centre.
