'Tis the season to be jolly!

It's the festive season and what better way to feel fabulous, have heaps of fun, enjoy your summer evening and wind down your day than with a breezy 5km/10km run or walk at the on Wednesday 11 December? What's even better, is that your kids can join in the festivities too by participating in the 2km Race Rudolf Kids Run.

This year, The Emma & Tom Christmas Run and Peter Mac have collaborated to raise funds for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in order to raise awareness and support this great cause. Being Australia's one and only public hospital dedicated to cancer and having the biggest cancer research group, it is important that researchers have access to specialised equipment and with your support, this is possible.

Yes, it's on a weekday, but an evening run is just as good as any. The course begins and finishes at Palms Lawn in Albert Park, a stunning location. Beautiful, leafy palm trees swaying side to side; the magnificent sunset with the sun slowly drowning itself in the horizon; and the serene Albert Park lake with its water reflecting the sky are just one of the many things you will enjoy.

To get you mentally ready and physically prepared, join the experienced coach from Running Fit in some pre-event aerobics to get you all geared up. This is the perfect way to avoid injury, be warmed up, get the heart racing and I'm pretty sure the adrenalin will be pumping too. Be there at 6.10pm for the 5km warm up and 6.40pm for the 10km warm up.

After your fantastic run, roll out your picnic blanket and have the best time. You get to relax, spoil yourself with scrumptious food and drinks, enjoy the gorgeous surrounds and celebrate the festive season with your family, friends and colleagues.

Register before 5pm Friday 29 November to receive a discount. $40 for adults, $25 for under 18s, $35 for concessions and $12 for Race Rudolf Kids Run. And if you're the first 1,800 to register, you're receive a fabulous Brooks technical T-shirt absolutely free. What a bonus! If you miss out on their early bird registration, not to worry, you can also register online before 12 noon Tuesday 10 December, or on the day after 5pm.

Your entry fee will get you a race pack, which includes your event number, timing piece, thirst quenching bottle of Emma & Tom's Juice and a delicious health bar. What's more, there will be heaps of prizes up for grabs as you cross the finish line regardless of whether you're a walker or runner.

So join in for a worthy cause and a fantastic evening. If you would like to do more for this great cause, then fundraise for Peter Mac, or bring a gift to place under the Christmas Tree for the patients at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. It will certainly bring joy and delight to those in need.
