The Emerson is always upping the ante in entertainment. Spanning three levels; Club, Cocktail Bar & Lounge & Rooftop, it's the gathering hotspot for all that are looking for a good time rolled up in quality entertainment, food and beverage.

Located at 145 Commercial Road, South Yarra, from Friday 15 July to Sunday 28 August 2016, The Emerson 's famous rooftop is transforming into a glowing Asian utopia with a little help from nearby eatery, Susie Wong . You will be tempted to venture outdoors during the chilly season for this 'Winter in Asia' six week long series where you'll be offered warming regional south-east Asian and Japanese bites in place of the regular rooftop menu. It'll be open for dinner after 5pm Thursday to Sunday, and lunch after 12pm Friday to Sunday.

Peter Capurso, owner and chef of Susie Wong and his team have designed a menu of delectable dumplings, spring rolls, banh mi, bao, noodles and teppanyaki to warm you from the inside out. How does soft-shell crab banh mi with yuzu mayo; chicken, prawn and sweetcorn sticky rice balls with salted plum; and crispy five spice pork belly with chilli caramel, apple and radish salad sound to you? Perhaps you'd rather skip straight to dessert with bitter chocolate cardamom fondant with vanilla bean ice cream and mandarin dust. Rare Japanese whiskies, sake and cocktails featuring Asian flavours will also be on offer.

Generously heated and fully enclosed, the luxurious rooftop space with expansive views will morph into an Eastern wonderland during 'Winter in Asia'. Strung with festive paper lanterns, blossoms, floral arrangements, fans and silk drapes, you'd be forgiven for thinking you're in an Asian paradise, except without the jetlag. The Asian theme is quite fitting when you consider The Emerson's namesake, Ralph Waldo Emerson was the first major literary figure to champion classical Asian writing. This forever changed the way future Western writers and thinkers approached Asian culture.

THE DUMP DV CHALLENGE

There is a serious side to this six week long event. By participating in the 'Dump DV Challenge' each Thursday for a $25 entry fee, you'll help to dump domestic violence via dump-lings. Eat 20 dumplings in 2 minutes (The Emerson will be keeping score), and each night's victor will be entered into the overall competition to win a trip to Japan. All proceeds go towards the Face Up to DV Appeal which was launched by Jimmy Bartel in partnership with the Geelong Football Club . The appeal supports both the Luke Batty Foundation and Bethany organisations that support victims of domestic violence.
