Emerge Festival, a popular annual cultural and entertainment celebration on Sydney's North Shore, is back this spring.Running for six fun-filled weeks from September 1, Emerge Festival offers a fantastic line-up of colourful and creative COVID-safe community events celebrating the emergence of spring.
This year, eventgoers can expect a series of smaller events, including art exhibitions, workshops, food and drink, outdoor activities, digital events and plenty for the kids!Willoughby City Council Mayor Gail Giles-Gidney said that while the larger events cannot take place, eventgoers are invited to discover hidden gems on the Lower North Shore to support local businesses and community groups.

Emerge Festival is a time when the North Shore comes alive and emerges from winter to enjoy the sunshine and outdoor activities and discover new groups and activities. In these difficult and uncertain times, it's all the more important for us to support local and I'm delighted that the Emerge Festival is providing the opportunity to do just that," Mayor Giles-Gidney said.
2020 highlights include: Events for the
Body and Soul, including
Meditation & Modern Buddhism Drop-In Class ,
Health and Wellbeing Open Day ,
River Spotlight Walk , and
Ageless Taekwondo .
Food and Drink lovers will delight in a
Steak and Shiraz - Live Streamed BBQ Cooking Class ,
Cask Conditioned Real Ale Festival and
Finders Distillery Tour and Tasting .
Kids can take part in the
Creative Sounds Studio Open Day ,
Globalart Australia Art Exhibition and Activities ,
Preschoolers' September Bush Scramble with Patsy, the park fairy, and
Come and Try Orienteering sessions.
Culture Vultures can enjoy a variety of exhibitions, including
Wobbly Machine ,
La Vie en Rose , and
Picture Willoughby Photo Editing Competition Exhibition ; plus the
Joy House Film Festival and even an
Introduction to Handmade Pottery .The popular
Pet Festival has gone digital this year too!Sponsored by Beyond Bank with media sponsors North Shore Mums, Northside Radio and Australian Chinese Daily, the Emerge Festival is a collaboration between Willoughby City Council, artists, organisations, local businesses and community groups.
