The Pave Fest includes the one-day FunFest
PAVE stands for Performing And Visual Arts in Emerald. It is an event designed to have several community groups and local performers showcase programs and talents to the Emerald community and surrounding areas. This has often been described as the best event in the Dandenongs!
Emerald is a quaint village, nestled in the Eastern Dandenong Ranges and on the outskirts of Melbourne. The Fun Fest is held in a delightful setting on Kilvington Drive, Heroes Ave and the Puffing Billy station precinct.
FunFest actually celebrates the first day of the PAVE Festival and welcomes a huge number of visitors from all around Australia. FunFest is a free event and you do not need to book.
FunFest Emerald is an annual festival held in April each year. This year it is held on Sunday 7th April 2019 from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. The address is Kilvington Drive, in the heart of Emerald.
Funfest will be an amazing day of fun for the whole family. You can walk, drive, or catch the train into town for many things to do including eating good food, music, performances, rides, market stalls and local crafts.
Some of the stalls and entertainment at FunFest include the following:
Erikas Beanie Kid Haven will have cute collectable bears that children love to cuddle. Beanie Kids start from $8 each and they are normally $13 to $15 in stores. They will also have handmade doilies.
Jose & The Amigos will be on the Bluegrass Stage from 11.50 pm to 12.45 am. Jose & The Amigos play some toe-tapping music. This stage is sponsored by the Mountain Pickers Association (MPA) and radio station 3MDR 97.1FM.
There will be plenty of food for you foodies - Nepalese dumplings, South African BBQ, twisty potatoes, poffertjes, Vietnamese street food and all sorts of food truck food from many different countries. The food court will be set up along Puffing Billy Place with trestle tables and chairs, so you are able to sit and eat.
The PAVE Festival will then run from Sunday 7th to Sunday 14th April. Both these events are supported by the Emerald Community House Inc. who is a not-for-profit charitable organisation.
The PAVE Festival was formerly known as the Emerald Winter Fest and runs during the school holiday and Easter period, making it a great family activity. The address is 356-358 Belgrave-Gembrook Road, Emerald.
The Emerald community event includes many exhibitions, great music, dance shows and a mixture of quality market stalls for visitors to look through.
Also featuring this year is a fabulous masquerade ball, where you can dress up in formal wear or a costume and wear your best Venetian mask. There will be finger food and drinks available, plus free entertainment and activities, including puppeteers, comedy shows, live bands, storytelling, workshops, walking tours and so much more. The PAVE Festival really has something for everyone, as the saying goes, so make sure to bring everyone!
Due to this event's increasing popularity, the number of visitors attending is increasing each year. Therefore on the event day, there will be several road closures on the junction of Kilvington Drive, Heroes Avenue and Puffing Billy.
While you are in the area, why not also look around the charming Emerald town and its many scenic attractions.
