The interior of New South Wales has been left far behind you now. If you think back to
Dangar Falls ,
the Hunter Valley ,
the Blue Mountains ,
the Jenolan Caves and
Katoomba you remember it all as a great adventure.
Then down to the coast making your way back north to Queensland you stopped at
Myall Lakes and
Port Macquarie . With only a couple more stops before you get home you have come across yet another gem.
Emerald Beach Resort is in, you guessed it, Emerald Beach, NSW and is only 18 kilometres north of Coffs Harbour.
This multi award winning caravan park has everything you could possibly want. There are cabins to stay in, ensuite camping sites that give you your own private bathroom. There are caravan sites that you can just pull up to. There is your favourite, tent sites, and once again because it is off season there are only two of you tenting.
There is a pool, fabulous for when it is hot. There are 2 play areas for kids, including a jumping pillow. There is a wonderful covered outdoor kitchen area complete with microwave, barbeque and picnic tables that help you stay dry when it is raining. There is a television and games room, enough things to keep even the most active child from being bored. The bathroom is equipped with showers, hair dryers and you fall in love with it.
The grounds are nicely maintained, beautifully treed and the access to the beach is perfect. The resident kangaroos keep the grass nicely trimmed and only eye you slightly as you walk past them.
Within walking distance are a variety of cafes, a bottle shop, a general store, and the Salt Water restaurant. Some of these cafes, when open in the evening, have entertainment.
Once you are all set-up you decide to hit the beach so you take the pathway and discover the Solitary Islands Coastal Walk.
Australia is renowned for its beautiful beaches and this one does not disappoint. Named by Captain Cook the Solitary Islands sit just offshore.
The headlands reach all the way to Coffs Harbour and to take the pathway makes for an interesting, easy, scenic, leisurely, walk.
You choose to go and see exactly where the path will take you. You climb the stairs off the beach, being careful of the tide as sometimes, but not today, you may have to go around the incoming waves.
You make your way along the brick pathway that has been crafted by someone with great patience and skill. Silently you thank them as this is a walk that you could bring others along.
With the wind blowing through your hair, the sun shining and the sky that superb blue you start taking photos, hundreds of them. This walk is so relaxing, the waves rolling in, the flowers on the side of the path, the historical plaques and stories, the kangaroos and surfers. It is an all-encompassing stroll.
A few days here is certainly not enough but it is time to get back so with one more stop in Byron Bay you need to carry on.
