Embrace the documentary spawned from a 2013 unconventional before and after photo posted by body image activist Taryn Brumfitt. Seen by over 100 million people worldwide, it became a debate that took off internationally and sent the media into a frenzy.
This 90 minute doco follows Taryn as she explores the global issues of body loathing as she works towards change and inspiring us to change out mindset about the way we feel about ourselves and how we think about our bodies.
Poor body image has become a global epidemic, making this doco ideal viewing for young and old and important in this day and age wouldn't you say? Please note it's rated MA15plus as it contains some nudity and an interview with a woman who has an eating disorder which some might find distressing.
The Body Image Movement are on a quest to redefine and rewrite the ideals of beauty. A now internationally recognised crusade that recognises the importance of body diversity, it encourages people to be more accepting of who they are; to use positive language regarding their bodies and others; and to prioritise health before beauty.
Eating Disorders Victoria (EDV) provides a comprehensive support and information service on all aspects of eating disorders. The approach and services provided by EDV have a direct impact on the mental health and wellbeing of thousands of Victorians every year.
Aside from this fundraiser, there are many ways you can help and get involved through volunteering; fundraising; donating; becoming a member; or becoming a corporate sponsor. EDV is a non-profit organisation and relies largely on the generosity of supporters to continue growing and improving its services.
