On a recent day trip to the Blue Mountains, we stopped by the Fairmont Resort in Leura. Located at the beginning of the stunning Jamison Valley, and only one and a half hours drive west from Sydney, the picturesque grounds and chalet style interiors made for a charming location for lunch. With winter upon us, nothing is as warming as eating by a fireplace, add floor to ceiling windows with expansive views across to the beautiful Blue Mountains, and you have the Embers Restaurant, located within the Fairmont Resort.
A casual dining space which seemed popular with families (lots of kids around), Embers delivered great food and atmosphere. Their iconic stone fireplace and the views beyond it were definitely stars of the show. As it was super busy and we had no booking, it was a half hour wait for a table. No problem, the upstairs bar provided some comfy seating, newspapers, and a pre-lunch drink.
Once seated and perusing the menu, it was hard not to get lost in the view. With menu in hand, it was time for more drinks, and some food choices. The kids menu at $14 provided 6 great dishes for kids, including healthy choices like Grilled Steak and Grilled Chicken as well as the usual Fish & Chips, Spag Bol, Pizza and Burgers. My 6yr old enjoyed his ham & cheese pizza, which was a good size.
The pan fried beef fillet with warm potato salad, king brown mushroom and wasabi butter, served with a wafu sauce - started it before the photo was taken, sorry!
For adults there are a host of tempting choices for Entrée and Main. Whether you feel like Pork, Prawns, Fish, Crabs, Scallops or Duck, they have it covered. And that's just the Entree's. For mains there are seven delicious sounding dishes although my partner and I both went for the Pan Fried Beef Fillet , which was perfectly cooked. The menu also features several "All Day Snacks" and quite a few Pizza options as well.
Dessert we left up to the waiter and just asked for something chocolate-y. And so it was. Whether you are after a snack, a full on meal or just a quick bite to eat, this place is the go. My only complaint would be the wait time for food, but it was especially busy with Christmas In July festivities at the time. I don't know if it is always like that but i would definitely go back regardless. The views, the gorgeous fireplace and the great food in a region that is a day trippers dream, can't go wrong.
