A good friend of mine just moved to Elwood. So, after she'd been there less than a week I did what any struggling uni student would do - went to freeload. Having only just moved there she hadn't had the internet connected at her unit yet, which lead me to do what any 20 something without a smart phone would do - go looking for the nearest Wi-Fi with my laptop.
What a pleasant surprise I was in for when I found the aforementioned free internet at a lovely restaurant/bar not far from her place: Elwood Food and Wine with not only free Wi-Fi but some mighty fine tasting pumpkin ravioli in a creamy sauce, and some equally delicious sweet potato pizza. Gluten Free Pizza bases were available too.

Continuing my cheapskate style I opted for water to drink, and while sometimes this makes wait staff turn their noses up it was certainly not the case here. The two ladies who served us saw that my glass was never empty and were as nice as pie when I asked for the Wi-Fi password . They didn't even bat an eyelid as I used my laptop almost non-stop during the meal.
The other diners seemed to be happy and comfortable as they enjoyed their meals and intimate conversations. There was a gentle hum of sound but the atmosphere was quite peaceful. Signs on the tables advertised cheap tapas and drinks on Fridays and I wonder if things get a little more rowdy then? There is also live music on Sundays and other specials.
