Is a freelance writer and school teacher living in Adelaide. On weekends I like to get out and explore with my family. I love travelling and have lived in various cities.
Take a flight of fantasy at Highercombe Museum
For many children, the land of make believe is peopled with tiny fairies and elves. In this wonderful world minute creatures do amazing feats in their beautiful nature inspired outfits. Good fairies triumph over bad and solutions abound for all problems. It really is no wonder as children we dream of exploring this fairy land. Luckily for Adelaide school children the world of fairies and elves is available to explore in Tea Tree Gully at the Old Highercombe Hotel Museum in the upcoming school holidays.
Children can follow a trail of alphabet fairies through the museum and learn a little of our local history. Children will be amazed and enchanted by the fairies and elves, parents are sure to be reminded of a time when their lives were much simpler.
The Old Highercombe Hotel Museum staff have been busy preparing the little details that will make this holiday experience a must see and a long remembered event. There will be fairy inspired treats like biscuits, fairy cakes and other sweet treats.
Plan to be there for fairy story time at either 11am or 2pm. Hopefully, the Spring weather will arrive and enable children to explore the garden and fairy circle. This really is a great event as there are also fairy inspired crafts to enjoy and a craft shop and sweet shop to entice the little ones.
What makes this great activity even more attractive is that entry is by gold coin donation (per person). It really doesn't get much better than that, a craft activity, a museum to explore, some fairy folklore and story time to share.
If you have never been to The Highercombe Hotel Museum then I recommend you place it on your holiday activity radar. In previous years the museum has successfully run 'A Teddy Bear Fair' and 'Wonderful Times With Nursery Rhymes', the Elves and Fairies Event is sure to build on the success of these events.
