One of the largest events held in Eltham, this is a great family weekend with loads of things to do. The festival is held over two days starting Saturday 8th November to Sunday 9th November and showcases the fantastic Eltham area. Festivities include family friendly music, entertainment, free rides for little kids (under 10 years old), stalls, food and wine, sports, a carnival, fireworks and more.
Held across two locations in Eltham, the festival commences at Eltham Town Square at 11am on Saturday 8th November with a program featuring local bands and singers. The festival continues on at Alistair Knox Park from 2pm onwards where there will be family entertainment on the Main Stage. Popular local band Chicken House will provide entertainment on Saturday evening before an aerial display by a local pilot and the fireworks display at dusk. Meanwhile on the Youth Stage there will be a battle of the bands.
The fun continues on Sunday 9th November when the festival swings into action at 9am. There will be a range of food vendors at the festival on both days, so no need to bring lunch or dinner. From sausage sizzles to falafels and organic burgers, all tastes will be catered for. Music will be a key part of the festival, with three stages featuring professional musicians, community singers and upcoming local young bands providing entertainment throughout the weekend.
The 'have a go' oval on Eltham Oval was a huge success last year and will again feature this year with even more sports being included in the line-up. This is a great chance for you and your kids to try out a new sport or activity with a local sports club including tennis with Tennis Victoria, basketball with the Wildcats, cricket, badminton, lacrosse, handball, mini golf and lots more. The CFA and SES will again pit strength and wiles in the annual Tug of War and families can compete in the Rotary Races.
The festival has been running for 13 years now and is made possible by a range of generous local sponsors, all of whom will be exhibiting on the event days. Whilst many of the activities and smaller rides are free, gold coin donations are appreciated on entry. Members of the Rotary Club will be available to take donations that go towards helping their ongoing community projects and of course the running of this fantastic community event.
