Located on Main Road on the southern side of Colac,
Elliminyt Recreation Reserve is a recreation area that can be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.
Set off the main road, it includes a wide range of facilities, including:
A playground for children of all ages
Picnic shelters and public barbecues
The barbecue area is well-maintained and features two electric barbecues, drinking fountain (including a water tray for dogs), tap, undercover picnic tables, and a bicycle parking rack. There is also another picnic shelter further back, behind the playground.
If you need some picnic supplies, Elliminyt Mini Mart is located just 750 metres away at 169 Main St, Elliminyt (in the direction of Colac). Otherwise, the larger supermarkets in Colac are about a 5-minute drive away.
The playground is another great feature of the reserve. It's modern and set over pine bark. The front of the playground has a boat design (complete with figurehead) and extends back with a great range of equipment, including:
Sandpit with equipment, such as a bucket on a rope with a pulley system
Swingset with toddler and standard swings
Bouncer and Bouncy See-Saw; and
As well as catering for recreational users, the reserve is also home to a number of sporting teams, such as the Colac Cycling Club, Elliminyt tennis Club, and the South Colac Sports Club.

Throughout the reserve, there are walking tracks and a number of native garden beds, which make it an attractive place to take the dog for a walk or go for a run.

At the entrance to the reserve, there are two monuments dedicated to local sporting identities, Ted Taylor Snr, and James Lewis (Lew) Ballagh:
Overall, it's a nice reserve with a great playground. Perfect for people heading to (or from) the Otways, who are looking for a place to stop, have some lunch and get some fresh air.
