If you are a fan of the offbeat, then Elizabeth Street in Croydon, away from the chaos of the city, is a place to be. The area is fast emerging as one of Adelaide's popular arts precinct. It also has some of the very finest organic cafes and bakeries along with some really good boutiques, most notably One Small Room Boutique which has a collection of unique items that completely enchant you.

For the foodies there is the Red Door Bakery (I recommend the Creme Brulee' Tart), which is a SALA venue this year and will feature the work of local artists. As soon as you walk past The Red Door Bakery you are immediately captivated by the smell of freshly baked pies made from locally sourced produce and I can guarantee that you will not be able to resist going in for a sample. Other eateries worth trying include the Queen Street Cafe and Let them Eat, for the vegos amongst you.

Elizabeth Street's location makes it supremely cozy and the selcudedness of the street makes you feel like you are in a small country town. I believe for the regulars that is part of its charm. I went there on a Sunday Morning for breakfast to the Queen Street Cafe' and got the impression that everybody knew each other, there is a real sense of community among the regulars on this strip. If a piece of street can have a soul than Elizabeth Street's soul would be described as wholesome and comforting.

So for a lazy Sunday breakfast or brunch make sure you have Elizabeth Street on your things to do list.
