Perth's riverfront re-opens to public in spectacular fashion
It's the venue that has been talked about for years and it is about to become a reality. Roads were redirected, an inlet created and the Swan River's boundaries redrawn; now we finally get to see what all the fuss has been about. A free laser and light display will go ahead on January 29th 2016 to mark the opening and run nightly until February 21st.
The program will see ten minute shows each half hour between 8pm and 10pm and will coincide with a weekend of entertainment in the area for the Fringe World Festival.
Dozens of water fountains across the inlet will be lit up during the show, which is expected t be a feast for the eyes. The event will be produced by Oracle Liquid, a specialist in this type of entertainment.
Public access to Elizabeth Quay will be from 4pm on the day. While the eateries in the area aren't expected to be ready for business in time for the opening night, there will be food trucks on site to keep the crowds fed.
Once the festivities of the opening night die down, the area will continue to host Fringe World events through to March 6. Perth International Arts Festival will also have its hub at the Quay from February 11 until March 6.
