The Valley is hosting a vibrant FREE Chinese New Year Celebration at Moonee Valley Racecourse this Friday 5th of February, 2016!

Gates open at 5.15pm and guests will enjoy a fun filled evening of delicious Asian inspired food stalls, a great line-up of entertainment, including live traditional artistic acts, spectacular fireworks displays and much, much more - including the chance to win $8888!

Throughout the evening, you and your family and friends will be entertained by a talented troupe of roving performers, including:

  • Martial Artists

  • A Sword Artist

  • A Magician

  • Fire Twirler

  • Contortionist

  • Acrobats

  • Stilt Walkers

  • Juggler/Mime Artist

    There will also be a Chinese Inspired Night Market to peruse with handmade gifts and souvenirs, as well as fun interactive activities for families, including Street Art & Creation, where you can turn a blank canvas cube into a fabulous work of art!

    Dining is a major attraction of this year's festival. Event-goers will be treated to a dedicated range of Asian inspired food carts in the Food Trailer Park, including:

  • Nem n' Nem Vietnamese

  • White Guy Cooks Thai

  • Korean Fried Chicken

  • Flying Woks - Noodles & Dumplings

  • Let's Do Yum Cha

    There will also be great competitions to participate in. The main highlight is the $8888 Prize Draw.

    For your change to win, register here and simply drop your entry form into the barrel. 8 is a lucky number in Chinese culture and translates to 'prosperity' or 'wealth'. Entries must be lodged by 7.30pm at the Tulloch Bar on race night.

    There's also a SunRice Giveaway. SunRice has kindly donated 1000 one kilogram bags of rice to giveaway as auspicious blessings and coinciding with Chinese New Year. A Food Bank box will be on course if recipients wish to donate their one kilogram bag to charity.

    The evening will conclude with Chinese New Year Fireworks and New Year Celebrations, including traditional Chinese & Lion Dancers making for spectacular entertainment!
