I like to participate in life rather than be a spectator. Music, dancing, theatre, travelling, food, cycling and walking are some of my passions. Writing is an enjoyable pastime that allows me to share my experiences.
Sparkle, glow and flash as around the course you dash
Electric Run is a night time run/walk where participants travel through 5 "lands" of light and music punctuated with dark, quiet sections. There are events held around the world in countries as varied as the USA, China, France & Portugal.
Electric Run events are held in conjunction with a chosen charity. The Sydney event on April 17 at Parramatta Park supported fundraising for the Cancer Council, and the many volunteers were dressed in bright "daffodil" yellow t-shirts. Families are encouraged to attend and there were three starts, runners, families and lastly the party people.
There was a great atmosphere as participants are encouraged to dress up in colourful, bright and glow in the dark outfits. A reflective t-shirt, race number, an led flashing bracelet and fluroscent face paint are provided with registration, BYO glowsticks, crazy costumes and sense of fun.
The majority of the electric runners were in their early twenties but there were plenty of families with young children, and themed groups of party people. The celebration area was set with a large stage, pumping music, food vans, a bar, and fund raising merchandise.
