This is an absolute treasure, hidden away in a semi industrial area in Newton. Elbio has been making amazing treats for years. Having previously earned the title of the King of Croissants, he turned his hands to making wonderful, decadent desserts.
Elbio - All About Sweets is set into a factory - a major part of the business is the production and supply of baked goods to restaurants, cafes and coffee shops all around the country, but luckily for us they've included a 'cellar door' cafe - and they sell direct to the public in quantity, too.
You'll find a wide range of treats here, from the familiar lemon meringue tarts, cirton tarts packed with luscious lemon flavour, caramel tarts, and Elbio's custom creations such as Massini, light sponge and rich chantilly cream, and the exotic Postre Chaja, a ball of caramel, sponge cake, cream, fruit and meringue, wrapped in a wax paper - this truly is a treasure to unwrap and devour.
The range of sweets come in both an individual serve, and a smaller 'bite size' serving that's ideal for cocktail parties and the like. With advance notice, many can be prepared to larger sizes to feed a family or a party.
