Drink, dine and dance to celebrate mid-week
El Topo Basement - with its ironic name as the venue is actually above street level - is a drink, dine and dance venue opened this year in Bondi Junction. If you are looking for a place to go for some Wednesday night fun, these guys have you covered.
I was lured to this bar through its Facebook promotions. Who would say no to $1 taco's and $5 sangrias? This is, in addition to quality live music and DJ-sets - with bigger-than-average names tending to take the stage.
The $1 beef and chicken taco's were hot and spicy. They were soft-shell taco's so lacked the crunchiness that I love but they were tasty and it was easy to down multiple of these - thank goodness for this Wednesday special! Oh and the friendly staff also wandered around handing out free nibbles like marinated chicken wings.
The one thing that was a let down however was how they didn't have any sangria despite advertising it across Facebook. The $4 glasses of champagne definitely kept us happy though. It was lovely sipping on the bubbly in the open air courtyard that had an intriguing wall made from books. We had fun spotting some of our favourites in the library-sized collection. The atmosphere definitely made us all the more excited for summer too.
Last Wednesday was a lot of fun - we dined, drank, and danced to a live set by the famous Nacho Pop! - Image from El Topo Basement's Facebook page
A few drinkies later and we were in the mood to dance. The cool urban tunes filled the venue all night, and from around nine the dance-floor started to take shape. We were lucky to be treated to a set by leading Australian choreographer, presenter and performer, Nacho Pop! Such cool types as this are bound to keep you boogying into the early hours of the morn.
El Topo has all you need to know on their Facebook page - from events, to line-ups, and more. Checkout www.facebook.com/ElTopoBasement for the hap on upcoming Wednesdays.
