Recently I had some friends visit from Queensland who told me that they had never dined at a Lebanese restaurant before. With this in mind, I thought I'd take them out for dinner to one of my favourite restaurants in the heart of Lakemba.

El Manara is located on Haldon Street in the middle of Lakemba, I had previously visited a couple of times before and was impressed by the quality of the food, the friendly service and the value for money I received. These are some of the reason why I keep returning again and again to dine at El Manara.

The most recent time when I visit with my friends from Queensland, we each ordered a mixed plate so that we had the opportunity to taste each of the separate salads, kebabs and tips. The mixed plate included grilled chicken, shish kebab, falafel, tabouli, baba ghanoush dip served with a traditional salad. It was delicious, especially when eaten with slices of Lebanese bread and some of their special garlic sauce. The garlic sauce is a must.

As my partner is a big fan of falafels we decided to order an extra plate of them as well. They were outstanding. Some of the best falafels I've had eaten in Sydney in a long time. If you are after value for money, and are after some great tasting Lebanese food than take sometime out to visit El Manara.
