Go loco this December with Cuban pop-up bar El Coco

El Coco will transform the Exchange Hotel in King Street this December into a Cuban pop-up bar, the ultimate way to start dreaming of a summer vacation while seeing out the last few (stressful) weeks in the office for 2014.

Expect a super colourful, tropical, musical and wonderful urban retreat. However this pop-up bar is so much more than just kitsch décor, with Sebastian Raeburn of the glorious 1806 on Lonsdale St serving your drinks, and Hammer and Tong chef Simon Ward creating a Cuban-inspired menu, this temporary venue packs a punch! El Coco is the lovechild of the people behind some of Melbourne's favourite bars, with the management team including the professional who run Secret Garden, LUX, The St Kilda Branch, The Deck and Palate. With this stellar line up of hospitality heavy-weights, on-board you can expect to see some of Melbourne's food and drink royalty in attendance as this bar, and quality in all service and garnishes.

The entertainment will also be first-class, with "music

inspired by palm tree-shaped pools, tight swimwear and over-greased perms". Scheduled entertainment for this month-long party include Scatter Scatter Tropical Discotheque from the Public Opinion Afro Orchestra, Bacardi's Rum Prohibition Party and the sure to be popular Wondercore Island Christmas Party which will feature a performance from Hiatus Kaiyote's lead singer, Nai Palm. All parties are free and the line up can be found here or like the El Coco facebook page to receive updates. All parties are free entry and go until late, like 5am late!
