El Ancla is located in on the beach of San Pedro de Alcántara, a few kilometres outside Marbella. One of the great thing about the restaurant is that it remains open throughout the year, even after the lively beach season is over in Spain. But it's not the only one.
The restaurant's terrace overlooks the wonderful panorama of the Mediterranean Sea, making El Ancla not only a lovely food spot but a stunning visual experience. Thanks to the view, El Ancla most conveniently falls into both 'family' and 'romantic' categories of restaurants. For colder times, there is a stylish indoor space, suitable for large parties; in the summer season, you can simply pick a table next to the pool, in case the wine happens to be not chilled enough.
The restaurant offers the best of Malaga's cuisine, with the fresh fish prepared on the grill, in salt, or baked; delicious seafood paellas that are to die for, and a beautiful variety of seafood starters and mains (note: the paella can be ordered for two people minimum, and the price on the menu is per person). For those who are not the biggest fans of seafood, there are other options such as meat or pasta; also, there is a menu for kids.
The wine menu is quite extensive, and you can easily find a good option that is not too pricey. The prices start at 12 euros for a bottle of crisp Verdejo or fruity Rioja and end at 200 for Dom Perignon Vintage.
Overall, the prices for food and drinks are reasonable but be careful with the fish sold by weight and don't hesitate to ask the staff how much it might come down to. The service at El Ancla is always pleasant, friendly and attentive, which contributes well to the whole impression.
