Eighty Eight O'Connell Street in North Adelaide was once the home to Le Cornu's furniture store. It was a memorable place for many people because the showroom had enormous curved glass windows facing the street. The windows allowed pedestrians to see the furniture clearly without annoying reflections as they passed.
Many years ago Le Cornu's Showroom moved to Anzac Highway, where the building had many hidden secrets. The old shop in North Adelaide was demolished, leaving a dusty eyesore that a succession of developers failed to do anything with for decades.

In 2018, the City of Adelaide purchased Eighty Eight O'Connell Street in North Adelaide, and have since transformed it into an attractive event space. The latest attraction to come to the site is a Pop Up Nature Maze on selected dates in October.
From Thursday - Sunday on October 4 - 7 and 11 - 14, between 10am and 2pm, families are welcome to join in the school holiday fun. 88 O'Connell Street in North Adelaide is being transformed into a free magic play space for kids during the school holidays.
Nature lovers can explore in the pop-up maze filled with a variety of nature play areas and activities. Kids can discover the fairy nook, the music nook, a sandpit and a loose junk play-yard to build and create.
This free event is suitable for children of all ages, but they must be accompanied by an adult. No registrations required, just come along and join in the fun.
