Eight Little Useful Kitchen Items

Our kitchen drawers are usually filled with many useful and many "why did I buy that" items. Some of the smallest ones are often the most useful.
Teabag squeezer - I would use four or five tea bags a day and often manage to drip tea between cup and bin. Giving the bloated tea bag a gentle squeeze over your cup adds a little more flavour to your brew, as the last drops of concentrated tea fall into your cuppa.
Potato Masher - My mother used to mash potatoes with a fork, not very well I must add, frequently leaving lumps of unmashed potato among the mashed ones. That put me off mashed potatoes for several decades until a potato masher joined the family.
Screw Cap Remover - I can recall as a child that to remove stubborn screw caps from a bottle or a jar, it was placed between an open door and the door frame and the door closed until the offending cap was tightly wedged in and the bottle or jar was turned. It worked but often splintered the wood on the door a little. Enter this little screw cap remover. Very door friendly.
Spaghetti Ladle - Strands of spaghetti are slippery little blighters, but this strange looking implement makes easy work of transferring spaghetti from the saucepan to bowl very easy. It is very versatile as it works equally well with linguine, fettuccine and bucatini.
Sandwich Guard - Every time you purchase a sandwich the sandwich maker places one of these over the sandwich and cuts it without touching the bread with their hands. Every time I made a sandwich, I left my fingerprints on them as I held it in place to cut, especially on fresh bread. Turning the sandwich over and hiding the fingerprints underneath solved the visible problem, but not the hygienic one. Now every sandwich I make is not touched by human hands.
Slotted Spoon - Not very useful for eating soup, but very handy for scooping vegetables from a saucepan of water after cooking.
Small Tongs. One of the most useful kitchen accessories is tongs. Sometimes the normal size one can damage the items you are tonging. Small tongs have a gentler touch, especially for small items.
Egg Yolk Separator - Very handy for recipes that call for just egg yolks, or just the whites.
All of the above items are very handy and cheap, except for the sandwich guard which I couldn't find in any shop, so I ordered one online. The delivery postage cost more than the item!
