Vegans will be well catered for at the 2017 Sydney Fringe Festival, with Alfie's Kitchen delivering an eight-course, animal-free banquet. The feast will take place on Sunday 10 September in the Festival's headquarters, a massive warehouse opposite Sydney Park.

"When Kris [Spann, development manager, Sydney Fringe Festival] approached us and showed us through the warehouse we were so excited," said Joey Astorga of Alfie's Kitchen. "It is such a unique opportunity to have access to such an amazing space, not to mention to highlight how great plant based food can be. We're super excited about this one!"

The Alfie's Kitchen team will transform the warehouse into a dining room with wooden tables and chairs, candles and fairy lights. The menu, as is usually the case with Alfie's dishes, will feature bright colours, unusual textures and Australian ingredients, some foraged from the wild. Among the courses are cabbage and pear taco; persimmon smoked celeriac; paperbark smoked leek and finger lime; ginger cherry blossom lollipops; rhubarb, beetroot and hazelnut pate; and miso caramel chocolate apple.

This event is one of Alfie's Kitchen's many projects. There's also a vegan pop-up restaurant, cooking classes and a mobile catering kitchen. Alfie's works closely with local producers, growers and makers, and is committed to ethical food production and sustainability.
