's simple tin roof, iron terrace detail and raw iron door are nothing to be fooled by, it's the details within that make this place a treasure.

Two o'clock on a Saturday afternoon and absolutely famished, I am in search of something to tame my grumbling stomach. I convince my boyfriend to stop by the as I have always been intrigued by what was behind the beautiful, almost cubist detailed, iron door.

We walk in and are immediately greeted by the staff, cheerfully instructed to pick any table we'd like before sitting down and ordering coffee and browsing the menu. The menu boasts an imaginative breakfast menu and a lunch menu absolutely too difficult to choose from.

Jack decides on the item first on the menu, the Rib fillet open sandwich and I take my breakfast obsession to the afternoon ordering Balsamic mushroom, soft white polenta, spinach, haloumi and add poached eggs to the dish... we are at the after all.

The monochromatic venue is filled with simple, dark timber chairs placed around square, sleek lined tables. The maroon concrete floor with visible cracks and deep beige and grey timber slats over the walls. Although the decor was full of clean lines and neutral colour, it somehow felt very warm and inviting. As we sit, sipping on our Genovese Coffee , I note an odd similarity between the taste and texture of the coffee and the interior decor. Simple and woody with depth.

Our mains arrived with a smile and we instantly got stuck in. Jack was given a knife for his rib fillet which resembled a swiss army knife fused open. It was then that the small individualistic features began to emerge through such as, the jars of fermenting fruit lining the bar and shelves, the silver art deco features on the black fans.

The food, absolutely delicious. The haloumi was cooked to perfection, as the texture can only be described as almost light and fluffy. The balsamic mushrooms and soft white polenta were the perfect compliments to the Greek cheese and wilted spinach stacked on my plate. And the eggs? As I pierced the white outer layer cutting the egg in half warm gooey yolk drizzled down the stack pooling at the the base. The rib fillet, cooked oh so well. I could not help myself stealing little bites when Jack was distracted.

The meals almost too good as we both polished our plates off and sat slumped and (a little too) satisfied in our chairs. A cheery voice approached us, "Can I tempt you with some dessert? A slice of pumpkin pie?" Jack and I looked at each other. "We couldn't possibly fit any more in!" I replied. Ten minutes later, our waiter brings us a piece of pumpkin pie, slides in onto the table between us and and says nothing before flashing us a cheeky wink over his shoulder as he walks away. Jack and I look at each other, chuckle a little and each take a bite. Our eyes instantly light up. It was the smoothest, creamiest pumpkin pie, a real delicacy on the taste buds. Needless to say, that plate, too, was polished off.

As we sat a little longer, like a whirlwind, a young woman rushes into the cafe, "Are all the muffins gone?!" She said loudly with a small amount of angst in her voice. It was that moment that I realised already has many local devotees and now, I think I may be one of them.
