EE Gun Reserve is an outstanding park in the heart of Ormond.
Many who've ever caught the train along the Frankston line on a sunny day would welcome and recognise the site 'on the left' with its wide expanse and glittering glass fields.

Yet, you need not hop off at Ormond station to visit this reserve with easy access by car also an option or perhaps the best way to get here is via bicycle, with the old Rosstown Railway bike trail running through the park.

However you arrive once your there you'll find the reserve has a wide array of features and facilities for use. Alongside a playground, BBQ - and the obligatory toilets and dog off-leash areas - there is also capacity to play football, have a hit in the cricket nets, and even a game of baseball.

And, some local info: once known as Ormond Park - and then renamed in 1964 after former mayor Ernest Edwin Gunn - the park is also home to a good number of local sporting clubs So, whether you're there for a quiet kick or a season game, here's a place that can deliver a great local atmosphere on a weekend afternoon.

: one of the great parks in Melbourne's South-East suburbs.
