'Book' A Table
Who knew that there was a book store in Sydney where you could browse with your favourite wine or cocktail in hand? For those of you who love the idea of browsing books in a cafe-styled location but with the added attraction of a classy bar vibe, I have found the place for you.
Pyrmont has a new kid on the block – Edition Book Bar, serving in style books, coffee, wine, cocktails, food and gifts. My husband and I were on our way to a jazz show and wanted to stop for a quick drink and pre-show nibble somewhere nearby. A quick search on Google produced this little gem and it did not disappoint.
Low lighting, tea lights on the tables, smooth tunes playing at a level that encouraged conversation that did not involve yelling and a delicious bar menu set us up for a perfect start to the evening.
Our pre-show delicacies consisted of a platter of assorted meats, cheeses and marinated vegetables topped off with a glass of mulled wine which was divine. The bar offers wines from Australia as well as South Africa, France and Italy. Check out their website for a full food and drinks menu.
We later had the pleasure of speaking with the bar manager Chris Howley, who has a sensational work ethic, and spoke of his impressive vision for the bar and his hopes for expanding the gin selection which is increasing in demand.
Edition Book Bar is also open throughout the day and is a dog-friendly establishment so furry friends are more than welcome to join you in a comfortable atmosphere. The establishment can be hired out for private functions and offers a free wine tasting every month.
