A stunning transformation by Mike Makatron and team
edithburgh water tower

The underwater scene on Edithburgh's water tower is just stunning and would have to be one of my favourites. This once bleak structure has now been transformed into a vibrant artwork by Mike Makatron and his team.

Completed in March 2021, the water tower art incredibly depicts the natural world that surrounds this picturesque seaside township of Edithburgh. Its spectacular marine life is being celebrated and that includes the leafy sea dragon, cuttlefish and striped pyjama squid. A colourful sunrise has also provided the perfect backdrop for local birdlife in flight. And, of course, not to forget the iconic Troubridge Island Lighthouse.

The water tower is among many others that were painted through the Regional Tourism Bushfire Recovery Grant to assist in the region's economic recovery after devastating bushfires. So, be sure to make a detour by driving along New Honiton Road next time you're in the Yorke Peninsula. Water towers in Yorketown, Stansbury and Port Vincent are worth checking out too.
