Not many people expect to stumble across a vegetable patch in a carpark. In fact, the Pop Up Patch at Fed Square is full of surprises. The space is packed full of chemical free veggie patches and a giant worm farm. The Little Veggie Patch Co who manage the space run workshops each month to help participants build on their green thumb skills. During Summer and Autumn Edible Garden Workshops for kids are scheduled to take place.

In the workshops children will explore the Pop Up Patch and participate in activities where they will inspect and learn about the oversized worm farm and identify the seasonal produce. They'll also have the opportunity to get their hands dirty by learning how to plant seeds and seedlings. Each child will take home their own mini patch.

There are two final workshops for 2012 on the 15th of December at 11am and 3pm. In 2013 workshops will be held at 11am and 3pm on the 12th and 26th of January, 9th and 23rd of February, 9th and 23rd of March, 6th and 20th of April and the 4th and 18th of May. Sessions run for about an hour and a half. The cost is $25 per child. Bookings can be made by calling the Pop Up Patch on 9531 5594 or online .
