Halfway between Agnes Water and 1770 on Central Queensland's Discovery Coast region is the Edge on Beaches 1770 resort. Its name is rather mysterious, although assumed for its location at Beaches Village Circuit, it could be related to the edge of the Great Barrier Reef, the edge of the Agnes Water town or the edge of the beachfront yet not exactly beachfront. I found out the resort (completed in 2004) is run as self-catering rather than serviced apartments, but that adds to the relaxed pace. Despite impressive pools and spacious units, the resort is definitely relaxing. I stayed towards the end of summer in 2024-25 where during my stay I got to try one of the four pools and see that the resort offered dual air conditioning (both in bedroom and living room), comfy furniture, and free laundry for the en suite in my unit. The management was very good with the customers, met me at the resort and tried to contact me prior to my check-in. Overall they did very well and the stay grew on me as I appreciated the swimming and the comfort of the units. The tariffs can fluctuate quite dramatically, as understandably the resort is in a prime location, and the swimming is very warm in summer - Edge on Beaches 1770 is not quiet but still near to the tropics.
