Part of the Avani Hotel along Franklin Street, Edesia Cafe is a good place to enjoy food that you can expect to see in an Australian cafe. For those who like a bit of variety, the cafe offers various specials in addition to the dishes on their main menu.

Their Canadian Breakfast was a slightly lighter version of the familiar Big Breakfast, consisting of scrambled eggs, bacon, hash brown and toast. We liked that the scrambled eggs were light and fluffy and the bacon was cooked just right. The hash brown noticeably differed from those usually seen, having a looser texture and a slight spiced flavour. A unique aspect of the dish was the maple syrup that came with it.

To our delight, the grilled chicken in The CBA had a good amount of charred flavour and was partnered nicely by the bacon and smashed avocado. Tomato and rocket added an element of freshness and the roasted garlic aioli brought everything together. The chips that came with the burger were fried to golden brown and came with tomato sauce to dip them in. Those who want something healthier can opt for a salad instead.

Their Pancake was a good option for a lighter meal. It had a fluffy texture and the topping of mixed berries added a slight tart flavour to the dish. Blueberries or Nutella can also be chosen as the topping. There was also the choice of having the pancake by itself. To accompany the pancake, diners have maple syrup and the choice of either ice cream or whipped butter. The whipped butter notably had sugar whipped in to provide some sweetness.

The decor of the cafe gave it a relaxed and comfortable feel, with the choice of indoor or outdoor seating. Its location makes it convenient for guests staying at the Avani to have a quick and tasty meal or snack.
