A great way to learn more about
Eden Valley is to check out its trail of historical silhouettes. Situated along the main street, these distinct sculptures successfully combine art and history.
In the 1860s, wagons needed to be repaired and horses were requiring new shoes. Hence, William Tucker established the first blacksmith's shop in this township with his eldest son carrying on the trade. Three other establishments also got going here, but only until the arrival of motor vehicles.
Dairying was also rather significant. Farmers would supply either cream or whole milk to the town's butter factory. This remained a major source of income for the early settlers.
Public entertainment was scarce before the building of a community meeting hall in 1910. After its opening, the institute became a core component of social life and hosted all sorts of events including roller skating, concerts, fancy dress balls, moving pictures and eventually dances.
Silhouettes featuring the local church and other aspects of the town's history can also be found. I'd suggest taking a leisurely stroll around Eden Valley next time you're in the vicinity. All these sculptures are best enjoyed on foot.
