Recreational Fishing Near the Gold Coast
Looking for an alternative to the stunning Gold Coast beaches? Ecopark Fishing World, located approximately 40 minutes from the Gold Coast, is a fun and entertaining day out for the family.

Try your luck in one of the freshwater ponds stocked with a large quantity of fish (sorry, no Barra here though). You'll be supplied with all the equipment needed to get started. The friendly staff are on hand to help you get your rod in the water and on your way to hooking your first fish. This is strictly a catch and release park; take care when netting your catch. Note: I have a newfound appreciation for the skill of casting a line without a sinker. One could spend all day here on mastering this delicate art.

A relatively new addition to the park is the paddle boats. Build your children's self-confidence and leadership skills and let the kids take the reins while Mum and Dad sit back and relax in the backseat. If your children are too young to take the pilot's seat, not a problem, this is a great leg workout and calorie burning exercise for the Mums and Dads.

If you need a break from the fishing and paddle-boating, wander around the well-maintained grounds and feed the friendly animals including alpacas, donkeys, goats, sheep and the very majestic macaws. If the kids still aren't satisfied with the variety of activities available, there is a jumping castle and an assortment of games including a basketball hoop, giant chess and Connect 4 to keep the little ones entertained.

The Eco-Park provides undercover picnic/barbecue areas and visitors are welcome to bring food and drink into the park. Cook up a beautiful barbecue lunch to refuel the family for an afternoon of fishing and paddle-boating.

The eco park also boasts a small shop that sells ice creams, milkshakes, assorted drinks and snacks. With the numerous activities on offer which is sure to tire out the whole family, a cool, refreshing drink is a lovely way to conclude a pleasant day. Birthday parties and farm stays are also available at the park.
