Australia's largest sustainability event

The inaugural Brisbane Eco Expo is coming to Brisbane Showgrounds on the weekend of September 14-16. Join the global fight against climate change at Australia's largest consumer sustainability expo and find out how you can take #oneecostep towards a more sustainable lifestyle.

This family-friendly event will see eco-friendly businesses and keynote speakers congregate in an inviting market-like space to offer natural, organic and sustainable products across dedicated home, food, beauty, health and lifestyle sectors.

With Australia recently ranked in the top five worst countries for waste pollution and negative impacts from climate change on the rise, the need to conserve Australia, and the world, has never been more important. Start your eco journey at Eco Expo and discover eco-friendly alternatives that will benefit your health and lifestyle every day. All areas from home & living, food & health, and family, beauty & lifestyle will be covered in depth.

Event highlights include:

  • Meet recent MKR winners Alex and Emily in the Progressive Picnic area, with a journey in sustainable dining.

  • Free health and cooking demonstrations available each day, such as DIY cheese making, edible herbs and DIY fermented foods; vegan risotto demonstrations by celebrity chef, Alejandro Cancino; and seminars by urban farmer, Permaculturist and gut health guru, Green Dean.

  • Vegan Pop Up Market run by the Brisbane Vegan Market crew, along with a dedicated sector focusing on food and wine options of chemical-free, natural, fair-trade, gluten-free, certified organic, to non-GMO.

  • Free eco workshops and sustainability seminars open to the public, including notable guest speakers such as legendary Sea Shepherd Captain Peter Hammarsted; sustainable gardener, Kate Wall; vegan activist, Scott Wallace; and Isabella Morand speaking on the Australian Conservation Foundation's strategy to put climate damage on the agenda at the next Federal Election.

  • TV climate change guru and documentarian, Khory Hancock, known as The Environmental Cowboy will host the Commune Eco Brunch each day, a dining experience where guests can enjoy delicious foods accompanied by organic and vegan wines.

  • Families will find a range of fun and engaging 'How To' workshops and performances for kids to inspire our future generation, including activities with Scouts Queensland as well as The Recycleman.

  • Meet mini movers and shakers such as 14 year old environmentalist and worldwide eco activist, Holley Somerville Knott, and Arlian Ecker known as the Plastic Free Boy, who has just been on The Project for his documentary film on the problems and solutions of plastic pollution.

There will also be a giveaway of native trees, 'Eco Pledges' and 'Eco Swag Bags' for the early-birds.

The path to worldwide sustainability may be a long one, but it only takes #oneecostep to start!

The Eco Expo is open to the public in Brisbane from 14 to 16 September 2018 (10am-4pm daily).

The Eco Expo promotes reduce, reuse, refuse, recycle and is a single-use plastic free zone, with a ban on plastic utensils and plastic bags. A waste management policy is in place with the assistance of Mallow Sustainability, a Brisbane organic waste company, which will allow the Eco Expo to reduce and recycle efficiently, as well as composting all organic waste from the event.
