It is easy to fall into the routine of always ordering the same dish when you dine out because it's a safe bet or always visiting that one restaurant close by rather than giving something new a go.

Why not try something different this weekend?

Subiaco Art and Eats is a walking tour that gives you a chance to graze and sip your way between a number of different venues, meet the people who run them, get a behind-the-scenes glimpse into a local gallery and check out some street art while you are at it.

Run by Eat the Street, a Perth walking tour company, this night out shows that Subiaco still has plenty going for it.

The tour runs on Friday nights and on the evening that I took the tour it had a casual vibe, with the short walks between venues feeling like leisurely strolls led by a friend sharing their knowledge.

Jacqueline, who owns and operates Eat the Street with her partner Mark, was our guide.

You may have spent time in Subiaco before but Jacqueline is sure to point out some things you might not have noticed before and her insights into the street art in the area are really interesting.

Eat the Street prefers to work with smaller family owned premises rather than the big boys- so there is a warm welcoming feeling at each stop.

Now I don't want to give it all away but I will tell you on our tour we called into a gallery featuring an amazing selection of indigenous art and we ate dude food, Mexican, Indian and tapas with a drink at each venue.

The Subiaco Art and Eats tour costs $65- not bad considering that covers plenty of food and drinks along the way.

Bookings can be made online.
