Easy Snacks from Around the World (Easy Cookbooks for Kids) - Book Review
In Summary
According to author Heather Alexander, no matter what part of the world kids live in, they all get hungry, especially between meals. Snacking is fun in the kitchen when preparing something. Cooking and consuming are a good way to learn about different cultures. Thus, what this book is all about.
Italy
Bruschetta is toasted bread topped with olive oil and garlicky tomatoes, a very popular snack and appetizer.
China
Cold Sesame Noodles are eaten cold and best prepared the day before. Let them sit in the fridge overnight. Either Soba noodles may be used or even spaghetti!
Greece
Tzatziki is a dip made of yogurt and chopped cucumber, served cold and often called "meze" which means "appetizer".
Mexico
Guacamole is a dip made of mashed avocado and served with tortilla chips.
Japan
Edamame is a vegetable from Japan that is nutritious and tasty. These green soybeans can be served hot or cold. The pod cannot be eaten. Only the beans may be eaten.
In Opinion
Personally, I highlighted the recipes that I think children would have no difficulty in preparing. I do like the Banana Bread recipe but I think it is just too difficult for a child to prepare.
The recipes were easy to read and the cookbook a good present to give to a child. Knowing how to cook is a forever skill. Then, with this cookbook, they would know what to do if their little bellies growl.
I give this cookbook a
5-star rating.
