Do you love going out for an ice cream with the kids? Are you finding that it is getting more and more expensive? Then why not make your own at home, for a much cheaper price! You don't need many ingredients to make delicious and refreshing ice cream - you just need a food processor or a powerful blender to mix everything together smoothly. Of course, it would be ideal to have an ice-cream maker at home, but if you are looking for easy options - and some cheat options! - then keep reading for some ideas to try tonight...

Mango Sorbet

%%Ingredients: 3 cups frozen mango,1 teaspoon lemon juice, 1 cup warm water as needed.

%%In a food processor, pulse the frozen mango until broken up, then add the lemon juice slowly through the top. Add warm water in intervals into the top, until you reach a smooth consistency. Serve immediately.

Raspberry Sorbet
%%**
Ingredients:** 3 cups frozen raspberries, 2 tablespoons honey, 1 teaspoon lemon juice, warm water if needed.%%

In a food processor, combine the raspberries, honey and lemon juice until smooth. Add small amounts of warm water and scrape down the sides if it gets stuck. Serve immediately.

Banana & Peanut Butter Ice Cream%%

Ingredients: 2 frozen bananas (sliced prior to freezing), 1 Tablespoon of peanut butter, a squirt of honey (to taste) and a tablespoon of milk%%.

In a food processor, add the frozen banana first, then add the remaining ingredients. Blend until smooth and serve immediately.

Caramel Ice Cream

Ingredients: 395g tin of Nestle Top 'n' Fill Caramel , 600ml thickened cream, 2 teaspoons vanilla bean paste.

Using an electric mixer, whisk together the caramel and cream until thickened. Stir through vanilla and then pour into a 2-litre container and freeze overnight.

"Cheat" Cookies & Cream Ice Cream

Ingredients: 133g pack of Oreo biscuits , 1 cup small choc chips, 2 litre tub of vanilla ice cream (softened).

Place Oreo biscuits in a large sealed zip-lock bag and smash with a rolling pin to form biscuit chunks and crumbs. Stir the cookie crumbs and choc chips through the softened ice cream (remove some out of the tub first to make it easier), then place back in the freezer to harden.

Lychee Ice

Ingredients: 420g tin of lychees (plus reserve 3/4 of the juice), 1 cup of vanilla ice cream, 1 teaspoon vanilla essence.

In a food processor, blitz the lychees, the juice and the vanilla essence until as reduced as possible (I use only 3/4 of the tin of juice, as any more spills over the top). Add the ice cream and blitz for 1 minute. Carefully pour into a rectangle slice tin and place in the freezer for 4 hours. Remove and slice up and then blitz in the food processor again. Freeze for another 4 hours at least before serving. Crush up in the bowl to serve.

Cheat ice cream - mixing in your favourite ingredients into vanilla ice cream - is such an easy way to customise your own favourite flavours into one delicious dessert. You can really add in anything you like, as long as it freezes well and won't break your teeth when eat it! I particularly enjoy making cheat ice cream at Christmas time, with broken up pieces of Christmas pudding, spices, liquors or fruit mince tarts stirred through vanilla ice cream. Then we just scoop the ice cream into a waffle cone or a cup, to make it feel like we just bought it at an ice cream parlour!

Why buy expensive ice cream and search for your perfect flavour, when you can just make your own? Enjoy!
