A warm & cosy slice for all ages
Do you have a favourite slice recipe, that everyone always loves? This recipe, below, is my family's favourite. I make it for my daughter's lunch box, for when we go for family bushwalks, for when friends come over to visit and if I need to take a slice to a work morning tea. I love making it because it doesn't have many ingredients, it is easy to make, it only has 1/2 a cup of sugar (so it is almost healthy!) and it is extremely filling. Another bonus is that if you bake it in winter, or on a dreary rainy day, it makes your house smell warm and cosy!

As a lunchbox slice, it is a winner every time. I am always trying to find delicious foods for my daughter's lunchbox that are low in sugar and keeps her fuller for longer. This recipe is loved in our household, I hope your family enjoy it too...

1 cup of rolled oats
1 cup sultanas
1/2 cup desiccated coconut
1/2 cup self-raising flour
1/2 cup raw sugar

What To Do

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and line an 18cm x 28cm slice pan.

Slice 2: In a large bowl, combine the dry ingredients - oats, sultanas, coconut, self-raising flour and raw sugar.

Slice 3: Combine 125g of margarine and 2 Tablespoons honey in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 45 seconds until melted. Add to the bowl and combine with a wooden spoon.

Step 4: Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and press down firmly with a fork.

Step 5: Bake for 15 minutes until golden. Allow to cool in the tray before slicing.

Yes, it's that easy! Enjoy!
