A drive through the Yarra Valley is one of the best ways to spend a lazy weekend in Melbourne, but if you're looking for farm fresh produce and don't have the time to travel, then the Farmers Market at Eastland Shopping Centre is the next best thing. With an emphasis on fresh produce from the Yarra Valley region, the new weekly Eastland Farmers' Market is the second best place to go to fill your pantry.
The first market held in April was just a small taste of the markets to come. In association with the Melbourne Farmers' Markets, the Eastland branch is a showcase of the very best the Yarra Valley has to offer from seasonal and organic fruit and vegetables, free range meats and eggs, honey, nuts and dairy along with artisanal products such as cheese, relishes, jams and smallgoods. Sample and buy direct from local producers and support small business.
Just some of the 30 plus stallholders you will meet at the Eastland Farmers Market include Benny's Berries, Yarra Valley Free Range Pork, The Old Farm Happy Valley Free Range Eggs, Timbarra Farm and Rayners Orchard. One highlight of the market is Paco's Tacos by Frank Camorra and partner La Tortilleria, 'the only artisan tortilla markers in Australia.' Taste some traditional Mexican at the Eastland Farmers Market.
The Eastland Farmers Market can be found every Sunday in the Town Square, 175 Maroondah Highway, Ringwood East, trading 9am – 2pm. The next market is Sunday 8th May 2016 with markets following every Sunday morning. Admission to the market is free.
