If you are sick of your usual Easter shenanigans, then head to Toowoomba for Easterfest, from Friday 18 to Sunday 20 April 2014.
Each year, tens of thousands of people head to this three-day national music festival at Easter to experience all types of music by more than 150 artists. With so many events held in Queens Park and the CBD, you'll certainly be busily enjoying everything the Festival has to offer throughout the weekend.
The Festival boasts a huge range of music and artists, from jazz to acoustic folk, to heavy metal, to rock and roll, and everything else in between of course. You'll find something you love at the multiple stages in Queens Park, cafes, restaurants, pubs, theatres, shopping centres and churches. The artist line-up so far includes Brisbane indie soul songstress Bec Laughton, the very cool DJ Maj, funky Slip-On Stereo, contemporary vocal group The Idea of North, and heaps of others. For the dance fanatics, you can bob your head, pump your fist in the air, shake your body, or stamp your feet at dance parties hosted by Red Frogs. And you'll definitely want to be part of the world's largest, wildest bush dance because you'll be boot scootin' with thousands of others.
For those searching for something more laid back, City Live is your answer. Various restaurants, shopping centres and pubs not far from Queens Park will showcase live acoustic music. Another perfect place to chill out is the Chai Circle, where you can kick back back with a chai tea and enjoy non-stop acoustic sessions. And if you like some gospel, then allow Gospel in the Chapel to bring you some traditional hymns and gospel classics in Toowoomba's iconic Cathedrals.
When you're at Easterfest, make sure you check out the entry pavilion because it will come to life with a sensational, choreographed original lighting spectacular. Expect something super creative this year!
Of course, families and children are well catered for here at the Festival. Jaws will drop and hearts will stop at the freestyle FMX, BMX and skate boarding show. For a bit of thrill, you'll find rides for the younger kids as well as the adrenaline junkies. And don't forget to pop by Kids World for the big jumping castles, giant sandpit, treasure hunts, and petting zoo. In addition, there are plenty of excellent entertainment here with performances by Australia's top children's entertainers.
