Escape the eggxhaustion of the city and head to YVCI
The Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery (YVCI) is eggcited about their gorgeous freckled eggs and all things Easter. Kids will be flipping over these colourful creations, and the big kids will be scrambling to buy more; they come in cute 'egg cartons' or in coloured pails. Last year the show room is 'choc-o-block' with over 80 different Easter chocolates of all shapes and sizes. This year YVCI once again promises simply elegant eggs, hand decorated and flavour infused eggs, beautiful chocolate bunnies, whimsical chicks, hens, and frogs plus decadent limited edition truffles just for Easter. There was even giant one-metre bunnies and a 20kg couverture egg last year. So, have a crack at this: Do you think they made last year:
a) 1 000; b) 10 000; or c) 25 000 Easter chocolates? Answer is at the end of this article.
On Wednesdays, escape the eggxhaustion of the city and head to YVCI for Chocolate Story Time; they're not yolking: it's a free event; you won't shell out a thing, for kids aged 3-7 years. Kids can enjoy exciting chocolate themed stories read by an entertaining story teller, while parents and carers relax in the café or showroom. Starts at 9:30am, for 45 minutes on Wednesdays.
Speaking of the kids, this is a nice seggway to tell you about the Junior Chocolatier Classes. My kids enjoying a Junior Chocolatier class at YVCI
YVCI brings amazing free family fun to the Easter weekend. From Good Friday to Easter Monday, be greeted by the Chocolaterie's Easter Bunnies, enjoy loads of free chocolate tastings, delight in the giant chocolate sculptures, and the kids can find a special treat in the Easter egg hunts. Hunts will take place four times a day on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 10am, 12 noon, 2pm and 4pm – no bookings required, in the Chocolaterie's picturesque grounds where the Easter Bunnies will help kids aged 12 and under search for a golden token to then claim their complimentary egg.
For the grown-ups, the Chocolaterie's Café, overlooking sweeping valley views, will be offering Easter inspired cakes and tarts, as well as their usual all-day menu using ingredients from their own kitchen garden.
So how many Easter chocolates did you guess that YVCI made last year? If you guessed c) 25 000 Easter chocolates, you're an egghead!
