Highlands Pioneer Village is where you can come during Easter time for some good ol' billy tea and damper made in authentic camp ovens. Come and see how pioneers survived in the bygone era and enjoy learning some new heritage skills. While you're out here you can also look forward to enjoying some live music and having fun with some baby animals in the nursery, who may line up for a grand but cute parade.

Who knows, perhaps you might even meet up with someone resembling Ned Kelly.

[ADVERT]With this festival running over 3 days, from March 30th to April 1st
, you can escape the city to get back to basics and enjoy the atmosphere of this village set in pioneering days. Visit a fashion shop or the historic National Bank. Come for all or come for just one of the three days. Affordable entry fees apply.

Around the grounds you will find approximately 30 market stalls set up with all old fashioned home made goods and crafts. Additionally there will be the Toowoomba Woodcrafters, a pyrographist (wood decorator), model trains, family games and country music from the best local artists such as Trevor Dodds, Kathy Sunners and The Cactoblastis.

If that's not enough, there will also be a sheaf tossing competition, whip cracking school, blacksmithing workshop and a best dressed period costume competition. And the kids might get excited about some of the old steam engines.

This is the 16th annual festival of its type and to sum it all up, you get to soak up some history, enjoy vintage machinery, and enjoy rural life with the addition of local entertainment.

Highlands Pioneer Village is at Wirraglen Road, Highfields, which is just a 15 minute drive north of Toowoomba.

The festival entry fee is $15 for adults, $10 for concession, $5 for kids or $35 for a family of four. Take CASH as there are NO EFTPOS or credit card facilities and ATM's are around 2 kilometres away.

View the Easter Vintage Festival website for more information.
