People have lots of hopes. Hope for a more comfortable life, a good bank balance, share portfolio, holidays, health, happiness and a better deal from life. But these are material things and are often driven by greed, envy or a sense of entitlement.
A deeper and more meaningful hope sees life as part of a grand story and requires a sense of purpose and meaning, something more than material things than give.
In our world, we tend to focus on our short stories, our own little lives, whereas we need to look at the bigger story that explains the part our lives play in the history of the world. The 2000 year old Easter story is the bigger story and one which is all about hope.
Where would we be without hope? Hope for a better tomorrow; hope that what we've been through has served some purpose; hope that our lives make a difference in this world.
Hope is what keeps us going through the difficulties and challenges we face in life. Yet, many of us lose hope because we just can't see the bigger story.
If you would like to find out about the bigger story - the story of Easter and the hope and promise it brings, St Thomas' Anglican Church North Sydney invites you to join their Easter services. Come and experience for yourself how it feels to have deep hope in your heart.
