The Easter School Holidays are the perfect time to explore our amazing city, Brisbane. The weather is not too hot and not too cold and this year there are some excellent indoor and outdoor activities being offered all around town to keep children amused over the holiday period. Visit one of the fantastic zoos and animal sanctuaries that are not too far from Brisbane. Most of the zoos, such as Australia Zoo, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and Walkabout Creek even run junior ranger programs, where kids can experience the wonder of looking after the animals for a day.
There are a few live stage shows to attend these Easter Holidays at QPAC. Rogers and Hammerstein's, The King and I, will have you dancing in your seat and singing merrily out the door, while We're Going on a Bear Hunt is another popular stage show geared to entertain the little ones (aged three and up).
Queensland Museum's Sciencentre is hosting this interesting and mind expanding exhibition. Children and adults will both learn something new about holograms, worm holes and the power of the human mind. Can you challenge your kids to a mind game? Queen Street Mall, in the city are putting on free live stage shows for children. You can learn to dance with Dora The Explorer and Boots the Monkey, at Dora's Dance Party from April 12th - April 17th. Nickolodeon's Slime Time Live will run from April 18th - April 21st, so you can join your favourite Nicktoon characters for this crazy interactive show. Both performances hit the stage at 11am and 1pm daily.
Relive the fun of the old fashioned toy box with Ehmers Puppet Show. Play in the doll house, learn origami or build your own wooden train. Toys are the theme these holidays at the ever popular Workshops Rail Museum.
Celebrate Easter Aussie style with a giant Easter Bilby cuddle, sing along with the hilarious Bush Galah, and meet some scary critters from the Wild Rangers Wildlife Encounters display. Sunday, April 6th is Outback Easter Celebration Day at The Workshops Rail Museum, and the event runs from 9.30am - 4pm.
