Easter is looming, another holiday for parents to meticulously plan, or hash something last-minute. Whatever you do, don't forget the chocolate eggs; there are of paramount importance. However Easter Eggs can only entertain for so long and to give you something to do with a stomach full of chocolate, Weekend Notes has highlighted some of the festivities on during and around Easter Weekend.
There are many events with 'family' written all over them, and one of them is the Sydney Royal Easter Show. Another for the children is The Sun-Herald Sydney Show being held at Moore Park from April 5 to April 22. Players from Sydney FC will be making an appearance, as will a carnival and plenty of animals. For all those in search of a bargain, look no further as the show is free entry.
April 7 sees the AAMI Golden Slipper Day rear its pretty head into town. To celebrate Australia's richest day of racing be sure to dress up in your finest, most stylish outfit as there are over $100,000 up for grabs in the way of prizes for fortunate fashionista's as Myer run their Myer Fashion's on the Field competition.
For the more adult of activities, get yourself along to the A Australian Wine Celebration from April 12 to April 29. The inaugural event will give wine-lovers the chance to celebrate all the great produce being crafted in our fine country as well as enjoy gourmet dining and music.
From April 6 to April 9, Sydneysiders can marvel at the Hoopla Festival in Darling Harbour. The Festival will exhibit the best circus, sideshow and street theatre acts there are to offer in the grand settings of the beautiful harbour. Children can get the chance to learn juggling, plate-spinning and stilt-walking in the 'Circus Works' section of the festival. All outdoor performances are free and indoor events can be booked.
These are just a select few of things to keep you entertained in Sydney over Easter. Be sure to get out there and enjoy some of them, it will be good exercise to work off all of those chocolate Easter eggs.
