I always say this, but South Melbourne Market is truly one of my favourite markets. Luckily it's close to me as it's where I love to shop. With Easter on its way, it's the place to be to get your shopping done for that special family gathering; a time to take advantage of the season and commit to actually catching up over a fresh meal with fresh produce cooked lovingly from the market. Whether it’s chocolate eggs, hot cross buns, fresh seafood or DIY cheese platters, the Market has so many choices and fresh quality produce that you'll be spoilt for choice this Easter. Find the Easter operating hours as per the poster below. It's time to load up on your Easter goodies, so get in before the vendors run out of produce with everyone shopping for the occasion.

There will be free face painting for the kids on Saturday 30 March and the Easter Bunny will be hopping in for a visit to help out with the Market's very own Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday 31 March. See the website for a handy list of vendors appropriate for Easter celebrations. How does lashings of butter on hot cross buns sound? Cobb Lane has seriously delicious chocolate cherry versions of hot cross buns as well. For your gluten and dairy-free versions of this Easter staple, Moses and Co are the ones you want. Let's not forget Agathe Patisserie - always a huge line outside this vendor's stall. This famous French bakery is serving up both classic and chocolate hot cross buns filled with milk, white and dark chocolate chips and cranberries. Don't miss out on their special pecan, date and coffee flavour, too! Then there's a beautiful flakey, hot cross bun-inspired croissant using croissant dough, almond sultanas orange citrus paste and hot cross bun spices. If a cold dessert version is what you're after, visit Fritz Gelato for their limited edition hot cross bun ice cream!

You'll also find a list of vendors from where you can purchase a stuffed animal to go with the easter egg pressies you give the kids. Clare's Bears & Wares, Create TBT and Spotty Dot are filled with beautiful choices of stuffed bunnies and other stuffed animals that some kids are going to love as childhood treasures, plus heirloom rabbits, wood toys, gorgeous ornaments, decorations, tins and more. Then there's the food to put on the table. Can't beat Aptus I reckon - it's where I get all my seafood, plus there's South Melbourne Seafoods and Gem Pier Seafoods. In the meat department, my favourite vendor is Ralph's Meat Company where I buy all my delicious beef and sausages - plus there's Hagen's Organic Butchers, Flinders + Co, and Kirkpatrick's Meats.

Can't forget the savoury, the cheese and antipasto to reward yourself and chill in good company, drink in hand and the ultimate food spread. You have Vangeli's Deli, Theo's Deli, Pikadeli, K-SEIN Fromagerie and Emerald Deli that'll fit the bill. For your carob bears, Pana eggs, Easter chocolates and more, head to My Cookie Factory, The South Melbourne Market Grocer, Sweets on South, Rita's Coffee and Nuts and Moses and Co. Market Wholefoods. And there you have it folks, the Market is your one-stop-shop this Easter! From fresh seafood and artisan chocolate to unique toys, handmade gifts and hot cross buns galore, you'll find everything you need with over 150 stalls under one roof.
