We've got one week left until Easter, and we all know that the little ones really enjoy this time of year. My brother's favourite activity during Easter is searching for eggs in the backyard on Easter morning. Here are some fun ideas that you can do with the little ones during this Easter season.

Colouring Competitions - Local supermarkets usually have Easter colouring competitions running during Easter. Next time you're at the supermarket pick up a colouring page for the kids, bring it home and get them to do a really good job at colouring it in and then submit it back to the shop. There's some really awesome prizes up for grabs, my sister won a 1 metre Easter bunny and a giant chocolate egg last year during a colouring competition running at Priceline. Mum helped her and they glued cotton balls all over the bunny to make it look soft. It is a very fun and crafty thing to do and if there are prizes involved, it'll make them more motivated.

Painting Eggs - My mum hard boils eggs and then my siblings like to paint them and decorate the backyard with them. I've explained this before in one of my last articles, but I'll just say it is really fun and the kids like to paint unique designs and paint faces on the eggs. It also makes the garden look really cool and funky once they've placed them around the yard. Make sure you really hard boil the eggs so that there are no breaks and yolk going everywhere, we had to learn this the hard way when my brother went to start painting his egg, he accidentally dug the paint brush a bit too hard into the shell and egg yolk went all over his pants - not fun at all.

Bunny Masks - get crafty and decorate your own bunny masks and then punch a hole in the sides and put string through them and get the kids to wear them. I did this last year with my cousins and they had fun wearing them and decorating them. It's a fun thing to do to get into the spirit of Easter.

Read Easter Stories - I couldn't find any Easter books this year but I did find some sweet Easter themed stories online, so I printed them out and I've been reading one each night to my brother and sister. Its a lovely thing to do and really fun, especially good its a rainy day or you want the kids to wind down.

Easter Egg Hunts - This is probably the best part of Easter for kids, hiding eggs around the yard, giving the kids a basket and then letting them run along and collecting as many as they can.

The only problem sometimes with this is that kids get overly greedy and desperately want to find all the eggs for themselves. There has to be rules set before the kids go out and find their eggs, some good ones are
1 - No whinging
2 - No snatching
3 - Be grateful for what you get.

Its not recommended to let the kids just off and find the eggs - if they're young they are going to whinge and fight over who gets what, and who gets more eggs.

Have a wonderful Easter.
