Feel like you're in the world of J R R Tolkien
Hidden in East Warbuton is a magical redwood forest that makes you feel like a Hobbit carrying the ring to Mordor. This mystical place is located on Cement Creek Road, the powers of the forest are so strong that they ward off phone reception, I didn't even care that I couldn't check my Instagram, the surrounding was just too peaceful to make me care about the outside world.
The Redwood Forest became popular on Instagram thanks to David Digapony, who created some exquisite wooden sculptures that enhanced the mysticism of the giant redwoods. Unfortunately when I made my visit, the 'authorities' had taken the sculptures down, for what reason I know not why, but the remnants have created something that looks like a massive bird nest - great photo opportunities await. Follow David (@wild_and_woven) so you can stay up to date with his latest work.
Once you're done soaking in the breathtaking beauty, walk to the other side of the forest and follow the path. You'll soon hear the distant sounds of gushing water, follow the sound you'll come to a beautiful river, - it's just another great gift from this magnificent forest. HOW TO GET THERE: About 8km from the main road through Warbuton, turn left into Cement Creek Road (it's a gravel road). Pass the bridge and keep going until you see the forest on your right, you can park there. Walk through the gap next to the gate, adventure awaits...
A lot of kids visit this forest, I guess the sculptures fell over, I know my kids enjoyed adding to the bird nests. People visiting must also be very aware there are a lot of snakes in the open and down by the river.
